The Best Laptop to Buy in 2010: 3 Sizes to reconsider Before You Buy

What is the best laptop to buy in 2010? Before we can answer that question, we need to decide the intended use for it. There are three categories you need to consider.

1. The Larger Portable Computer - If you currently own a small netbook and the one you intend on purchasing is going to be your main computer for your home or office, you need to purchase the largest one you can. The size for a desktop laptop will range from 17" to 20". This will allow you to have a larger screen size, more memory, a larger hard drive, and overall, more capabilities. Yet you still have the option of grabbing it certainly and transporting it somewhere if you need to.

2. The Mid-Sized Portable Computer - Maybe you need an office/home laptop and one that's certainly transportable. That's where the mid-sized laptop comes in. This size will range from 14.1"-16". Most laptops in this size range still have enough memory, Ram, speed, and Dvd capabilities. It will have all the features you need to use at the office and on the road. This size will also fit certainly into most brief cases and messenger bags. Always buy the wide screen version of any laptops, whether large, mid-size, or compact. These have an aspect ratio of 16:9.

3. The contract Netbook - These laptops have a screen size of 13.3" and smaller. They are sometimes called "netbooks". I wouldn't recommend this size unless you have a desktop or large laptop as your main computer. The contract netbooks have less memory, smaller hard drive capacity, fewer jacks, and most importantly, no Dvd capability. This is certainly a drawback when it comes to installing software from a Dvd. Even Norton or other utilities wish insertion of a Dvd. If you do need to install software, you do have the option of purchasing an external Dvd drive to do these tasks. The contract netbooks do regularly have built-in wireless so you can hook up to the internet.
